Abstrakt: The article focuses on the transport preferences of the inhabitants of a medium-sized city in the context of changing urban mobility and sustainable development. It fills the gap in the literature researching the changing communication behavior of the inhabitants of a given city. The main purpose of this article is to identify and analyze the preferred means of movement for inhabitants of a medium-sized city in Central and Eastern Europe. The research area was the city of Szczecin, Poland. The research was carried out using the following research methods: literature review, analysis of legal acts and documents, case study. The research material was collected using an anonymous questionnaire based on a proprietary survey made available to the inhabitants of the largest city of north-western Poland, Szczecin, in the GOOGLE browser in the period 17 May 2019–1 April 2021. The multiple-response contingency tables, chi-square test of independence and non-parametric U Mann–Whitney and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used for study development. The conducted scientific research showed that, when determining the relationship between the method and the destination, the respondents most often chose a car or on-foot commuting in all of the surveyed destinations. The research results increase the level of knowledge regarding residents’ needs in terms of urban mobility and the development of Szczecin’s transport system. They can be used in the rational actions of local authorities aiming to improve residents’ the quality of life in the context of the sustainable development of city transport.

Abstrakt: Purpose: The article concerns the issues related to the methods of movement of people in urban areas by means of cars, trams, buses, bicycles, e-scooters, electric scooters and on foot. Its purpose is to present selected factors determining this choice. Design/Methodology/Approach: The authors, using the proprietary questionnaire, conducted a survey among the inhabitants of one of the largest cities in Poland - Szczecin to determine their current preferences related to the way of movement before and during the pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus. Non-parametric dual and multiple comparison tests, the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis rank ANOVA were performed. The Cronbach’s α coefficient was used to assess the reliability of the measuring scale. Findings: The conducted analyzes allowed to determine the most common ways of traveling, the level of their safety and accessibility for residents. Statistically significant differences were found in respondents’ opinions, depending on age, gender, industry, and education. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on opinions on the frequency of use, safety, and availability of means of transport in Szczecin was verified. The analysis showed a slight decrease in the declared frequency of using the analyzed means of transport and no decrease in the safety assessment of the analyzed means of transport during the application of the restrictions related to Covid-19. Practical Implications: The presented analysis and assessment of the ways in which the inhabitants of Szczecin move could be used in rational actions of the local authorities aimed at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants and friendly to the inhabitants of the city in the context of public and individual transport. Originality/Value: The authors compared the preferences of the ways of movement and the implemented solutions with the parameters of their effectiveness, based on the experimental results and foreign literature.

Abstrakt: Purpose: Economic growth, along with aggressive competition, directly influences the functioning of supply chains and equally shapes all internal and external threats. This publication aims to present the identification process and analyse the significance of threats in supply chains at the stage of the production process of structural elements. Design/Methodology/Approach: An appropriate questionnaire and checklist have been developed to determine the frequency of threats. The analysis of measurement scale reliability was performed using the α-Cronbach coefficient and Guttman split-half method. Finally, the research results were analysed using the proprietary ranking method based on the adopted measurement scale. Findings: The empirical results indicate that the survey conducted using the adopted questionnaire and the checklist allows for identifying threats in the supply chains occurring in the manufacturing process. In contrast, the frequencies of threat occurrence determined using a survey questionnaire allow for appropriate ranking. Practical Implications: The study should be treated as a pilot for a group of medium-sized manufacturing companies implementing a sustainable development policy. Originality/Value: Threat assessment in production processes and supply chains can have a practical impact on shaping enterprises’ policy of sustainable development.

Abstrakt: There is a constant competition in the automotive industry. Companies are trying to outdo each others in their solutions concerning the ways of production processes’ improvement. The objective of studies presents the impact of selected production indicators for process improvement in the production of car cabin equipment elements. Firstly the validity of the use of indicators was shown. Secondly the results of this improvement’s analysis in Klippan Safety Poland were presented. Celem artykułu jest ocena stopnia przydatności opracowanych gier symulacyjnych do pełniejszego osiągania założonych efektów kształcenia, a tym samym do podwyższania jakości kształcenia w zakresie zagadnień inżynierii produkcji na poziomach uniwersyteckim i zawodowym. W eksperymencie wzięli udział studenci studiów inżynierskich na kierunkach zarządzanie i inżynieria produkcji oraz logistyka. Wyniki jako studium przypadku zilustrowały efektywność proponowanej metodologii i jej zastosowanie na poziomie uniwersyteckim w trybach stacjonarnym i niestacjonarnym. Proponowana metodologia nie tylko stanowi innowacyjne rozwiązanie w zakresie oceny efektów kształcenia, ale przede wszystkim już na etapie kształcenia nakreśla kierunki zwiększania kompetencji zawodowych przyszłych i bieżących pracowników produkcyjnych.

Abstrakt: Background: In the dynamically developing enterprises of the TFL industry, the demand for educated and competent employees is still growing. The educational process at the academic level should not only broaden the level of knowledge in this field but should also promote the development of transversal skills, such as entrepreneurship, communicativeness, creativity, and cooperation in the group. The article aims to examine the effectiveness of using three selected heuristic methods to develop transversal skills in the field of Logistics at the Maritime University of Szczecin. The research also pertains to the pace of growth of these competences during the implementation of educational processes using the indicated methods. Method: The method of accelerating the development of transversal competences in the process of students’ practical education was used to test models of cross-functional skills development processes. The competence growth assessment was carried out in three stages, with the use of brainstorming, meta-plan and psychodrama. The competence level test was taken into account before the evaluation of the learning process models and after their completion. Nonparametric tests of multiple comparisons were used to analyze the results obtained. A matrix for the dependence increase in the applied case was based on the applied heuristic method. Results: The considerations are illustrated by the results of calculations regarding the development of transversal competences of students, as well as the effectiveness of using selected heuristic methods used to raise them. DIGITALIZATION OF SUPPLY CHAINS 161 Conclusions: It was pointed out that after applying the proposed methods to students, the level of examined competences in most cases increased. The level of students’ awareness of the knowledge of their transversal competences has also increased. Despite the complexity of the research, the method applied proved to be useful in studying the change in the level of transversal skills of students. There were no significant differences between the methods used and the rate of increase in competences depending on the specialty. Women, in most cases, develop their transversal skills better than men regardless of the mode of study.

Abstrakt: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept which reflects the ideas of trustworthiness and honesty in the operation of enterprises. It is multi-dimensional and is focused on the creation of new and innovative solutions for the sustainable development of business, which includes caring about employees, local communities and natural environment. The universities also implement the CSR concept by their accounting for market needs and improving the quality of engineers’ education preparing them for future professional work. The aim of the chapter is the presentation of CSR concept’s place and role in the process of educating the production engineers and logistics specialists. Moreover a simulation game is proposed, as a new CSR tool which can be used with regard to employee care. The methodology of research is based on the analysis of literature devoted to CSR and simulation games. The scope of problems and teaching methods encompassed by the subjects concerning the broadly understood quality management has been compared using the framework of Polish „National Qualification Standards”. The empirical results are obtained from the research performed using the questionnaire and focus group techniques. The originality of the work consists in the theoretical presentation of CSR concept and its place in the education of engineering cadres, and a practice-oriented application of simulation games as a CSR tool to the education process.

Production is the use of resources and services to produce products that meet customer requirements. The client’s requirements are the basis for determining the final quality of the manufactured products. In large-scale and mass production of furniture, it is very difficult to avoid incompatibility due to the specificity of defects in the material being processed. They have a particular impact on the defects of wood, which are then used to produce various types of finished products. Abstrakt: The share of discount stores in the Polish retail trade, has had a strong trend upward for several years. Poles pay more and more attention to the quality of the services offered by the discount stores network. Hence the aim of the article is testing the quality of services in the selected network. The research was conducted in years 2015–2017 on the basis of the case study using Servqual method. The use of this method allowed to determine customer satisfaction in Netto discount stores chain as the difference between customer perception and expectations. The five criteria: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy were taken into account for estimating the quality of services. The conducted research allowed to state which of the mentioned areas is on a satisfactory quality level and which one is not, what weaknesses and strengths of the service offered by the studied discount stores chain are and what the relation between customer satisfaction and service quality is. The analysis of research results allows to state that retail chains should examine the quality level of their services systematically in order to be able to conduct expansive policy on Polish market regarding the growth of customer requirements.
